want to show you where live doppler 7hd is showing the heaviest rainfall activity. as we take you in closer i want to show you the east bay is getting soaked. around lafayette and hercules. ace take you to street level it is getting a pretty good wool loping. as i pull you out toward and up toward the north bay novato and san rave tie yell and lucas valley and ignacio boulevard getting drenched. from the peninsula area down toward the south bay, the rainfall is lighter, but it has been adding up quickly. i will be back with the rainfall totals so far and what you can expect for the morning commute coming up. dan? >> thanks, sandhya. breaking news. the weather may have played a role in a horrific accident in vallejo amount of man hit by a car and then dragged by another one. he was hit at broadway and hogan and dragged another mile near mini and stanford drive.

alan wang is live tonight with the story. alan, it is awful. >> it was 6:00 and dark and the roads were wet. weather was definitely a factor that investigators are examining. this is the intersection where the driver finally stopped and realized he was dragging the victim, a disabled man who lived around here. witnesses say the 89-year-old driver of this mercedes didn't realize he dragged a pedestrian nearly half a mile down the road until he was flagged down. >> unfortunately there is a loss of life here tonight, and it is the result of a horrible, horrible accident. >> this woman tells us her 41-year-old cousin is the victim. he was at this intersection in vallejo when the female driver of this car struck him. >> i can tell you that there is no crosswalk in that area. it is fairly dark there. >> the impact knocked the victim into the next lane where he was hit and dragged

by the 89-year-old driver. he finally stopped in front of emily's house. >> my children heard tires screeching. they looked out and saw the body under the tront end of the car. >> firefighters had to use air bags to lift the car and remove the victim who died at the scene. the elderly driver lives in her neighborhood. >> physically seems to do pretty well, gets around okay. most of the time we see him and he is walking. he gets around okay. >> the victim's relative tells us he regularly crosses this intersection and her cousin had been disabled by polio since childhood. in vallejo, alan wang, abc7 news. new at 11:00, two men are in the hospital tonight after their truck crashed off a north bay road, flew down a 30-foot em bank meant and ended up on its roof in a creek. it happened near the town of glen alan. the highway patrol says rain and speed were factors in this crash. anger over a police

confrontation caught on camera on friday spilled on to the streets around the police station. demonstrators call it a clear case of police brutality. john alston is live on valencia street where police are defending their actions. john? >> it was quite a scene, carolyn. there was a line of police officers ringing around the front of the mission station during the height of the protest. they had their helmets in hand, but there was no need to use any of the riot gear. the demonstrators who were here are planning another appearance in this neighborhood tomorrow afternoon. more than a hundred demonstrators circled valencia street seething over the altercation with san francisco officers that left four men injured and under arrest. >> i want justice for my kids. they beat up my kids and arrested him and threw them in jail like criminals. neither of my children h's records. >> the friday afternoon incident began when plain

clothed officers tried to cite dj williams for riding his bicycle on the sidewalk. they say he bit one of the officers and ran toward the apartment. others decided to get involved in the toc sell. williams was badly bruised. >> he was upset by ped what. to me he was profiled. whether the police think what they did was wrong or not, it was wrong. >> the officers are being pufned at, -- punched at, right? they can use whatever force reasonable to overcome the resistance. that's what the thrust of the investigation is. >> five officers were also hurt. the d.a. has not filed charges against the four men arrested pending further information. john alston, abc news. a mystery witness in the case of a missing patient at san francisco general hospital who was later found dead there. abc7 news broke the story today. sources tell us the witness was a visiting doctor from

india who thousand works at -- who now works in the hospital. they questioned him about this case. he reported to hospital staff he saw a person who appeared to be sleeping in a stairwell. deputies were notified, but they never checked the stairwell. the body was found two weeks later. >> now somebody comes forward, a doctor, and says i was the one that saw her and did nothing more than say so to somebody that let him in out of a locked door? i can't fathom the thinking. >> the hospital tells abc7 news the doctor came forward after he saw a flier at the hospital and realized that he must be the one investigators were looking for. the city of cupertino approved apple's plan to build a massive new headquarters tonight. the city will give apple a 4.4 million dollar tax break each year saying the benefits far outweigh the costs. the 2.8 million square foot

building will hold more than 14,000 employees. should only less attractive female be used to recruit women soldiers? the comments are drawing fire. abc7 news reporter lisa amin gulezian on what that officer had to say and how people are responding to it. >> it is offensive. >> why are we talking about women's attractiveness if we talk about military service? >> that's what women all over are wondering after an army colonel called this photo a bad choice because the woman is too pretty. the colonel said, quote, ugly women are perceived as competent and pretty women are perceived as using their looks to get ahead. >> it is frustrating to see that stereo type still exists around military women. >> susan is a former u.s. air force captain. she finds the attention on this soldier's lipstick shade looks sad. >> the nature of these people, the character of the people.

today.resswoman jackie spore she tweeted, another example that the u.s. army just doesn't get it. it debates if a pretty girl should be used in pamphlets. they say using an average looking person in an ad makes some sense. >> you don't want somebody who is sending the wrong message and say the military is a place for glamorous people. >> the colonel whose comments set off the firestorm also happens to be a woman. lisa amin gulezian, abc7 news. the search is on for a medical crew who were on a learjet that went down. the coast guard recovered two bodies. the plane was on a medical flight bound from mexico just after takeoff from fort lauderdale. the pilot radioed air traffic control to report engine failure. we are continuing to track the storm that is moving through the bay area right

have you heard about obese passengers getting kicked off planes. now the f.a.a. is considering obese pilots. it suggests they suffer sleep apnea and not enough sleep

for -- moving in. >> sandhya patel is here. >> don't forget your umbrellas when you leave home. still seeing quite a bit of moisture. the moisture is shifting southward and eastward. check out what is going on in the south bay. san jose, evergreen, heading out toward the east they are seeing brief downpours. they picked up a 10th of an inch in a few minutes. we will take you up to the east and as you look east of walnut creek, 680 we are seeing moderate to heavy rain. in the north bay we are picking up heavier pockets around sears point. this is where the snow has been picking up throughout the day. the snow levels are high though. there are chain controls on 88 and 4 and make sure you are carrying the chains. winter weather advisory is tomorrow morning at 10:00 and runs until 10:00 p.m. they are expecting above the

7,000 foot level and 6 to 12 inches of snow. lake level, we are talking a couple inches. speaking of rainfall, we have seen a lot of rain and you know we have been talking about it all nightlong. san francisco is just under half an inch. half moon bay has picked up .68. you head down toward the south bay and san jose is .15. oakland .38. even normally livermore in the rain shadow of the mountains picking up a quarter of an inch of rain. check out the dog. what is going on? the dog does president know what is going because it has been nearly two months since we have seen significant rain. prepare for it to be on the wet side. san jose, are you all in the 50s right now. the view from our exploratorium camera, clouds and low visibility. santa rosa 55 and fairfield same thing and concord and livermore in the 50s. uniform numbers from the
